RPG sample
A proof of concept of RPG mobs in the style of Wynncraft or Hypixel, shipped as a separate plugin
(graycore-rpg-sample.jar, from samples/rpg-sample/) that adds the rpg-sample module to GrayCore. It is not part of
graycore-paper.jar, and it needs BetterModel 3.6.
What it shows:
- Mobs of the game with an RPG around them: a zombie or a skeleton (
ai: vanilla) keeps its own mind and look, and gets levels, a life of its own, damage and defense, a name, loot and spawn zones. No model is needed. - Mobs with 3D models: Blockbench models drawn over a hidden body, with hitboxes that follow the model, and a size that can change in game (a mob without a model changes size too).
- Combat: a choice of damage model (
vanillaorcustom, with attack, defense and critical hits), base damage and a hit interval per weapon, a life of its own for each mob shown above it, damage numbers. - A mind of their own: mobs pick a player, chase them and stop in reach; skills with a warning on the ground before they strike (a charge, a ground zone), and a bow that shoots.
- Mobs that split into smaller ones when they die, a slime for instance.
- A mini-boss with a boss bar and phases: below a share of its life it stops, roars, grows and fights differently.
- Rare spawns: a mob, a mini-boss for instance, that sometimes takes the place of a regular one in a zone.
- Spawn zones that keep mobs alive while players are near, a leash that brings a mob back to its zone, and loot for the killer only.
- The resource pack BetterModel builds, published over HTTP and sent to players when they join.
Everything is set in plugins/GrayCorePaper/modules/rpg-sample/config.yml; the command is /rpgsample
(graycore.commands.rpgsample.admin). The sample's own README, samples/rpg-sample/README.md, details every setting and how
the code is laid out.
